Police search for kidnap suspect, missing woman

HALIFAX, Pa. (WHTM) - State police are looking for a kidnapping suspect and a woman he reportedly took from a Halifax Township motel.

Jean Marie Howell, 49, was last seen around midnight Wednesday at the Red Rose Motel on North River Road.

Police said 61-year-old Reginald Reaves knocked on a motel room door where Howell was staying with her husband. Reaves threatened Howell and dragged her out of the room then forced her into a dark-colored 90s or early 2000 Ford Explorer.

Howell's husband, Steven Howell, was assaulted in the room.

"He forced his way into the hotel room and started yelling at my wife," Steven Howell said: "Then he approached me and started throwing punches, and it appeared that he had a knife in his hand."

Reaves had a relationship with Jean Marie Howell while she and her husband were separated, Steven Howell said.

Police believe Howell is in danger. She is 5'4" tall, 145 pounds, has brown shoulder-length hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a teal tank top, blue jeans, and pink flip-flops.

Reaves is charged with kidnapping, burglary, and related charges.

Dauphin County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to his arrest.
