A man who made a stop for something to eat became the city's 12th homicide victim of the year when he was gunned down outside the Double D Bar & Grill at approximately 8:30 Wednesday night.
As Eric D. Cooper, 33, of Lower Paxton Township was leaving the bar at 19th and Brookwood Streets, a black SUV approached him. Cooper, apparently knowing the people inside, walked up to the vehicle and was shot several times. Cooper was rushed to a hospital where he later died.
Police are now interviewing witnesses and looking for the SUV. "The investigation is helped by the fact that we have some video surveillance camera footage," said Mayor Stephen Reed, "including some footage that actually caught the entire shooting on tape, so that's all very valuable information." Reed said the shooting was not a random attack. "They obviously knew he was there because they circled the block. That's on camera," he said. "They circled the block, pulled up behind him, and waited for him."

"He came out, recognized them, started walking towards them. So I have a feeling the shooting was unexpected on the victim's part."
Police plan to enhance the surveillance video in an effort to get the license plate of the SUV.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Harrisburg Bureau of Police at 255-3131.
