It is normally a place where guys like Jeff Gordon go to the office. But on a cold rainy day, it is a classroom for teenagers. The rain is perfect for the Bertil Roos teenage defensive driving course at Pocono Raceway. For 2 days, teenagers are taught to drive "in-control." Don Fewkes who is a Bertil Roos Instructor says, "A lot of times we see some negativity about the kids showing up you know. My parents wanted me to come here."
The students are taught how to menuever a car while it is sliding sideways and how to look down the road, not just infront of them, when driving.
"You gotta feel what the car is doing," Fewkes explained. "And that tells your feet what to do. and you have to continue to look where you want to go because that tells your hands what to do."
The instructors also recommend that new teenage drivers should not transport friends until they get some miles under their belt.
