Meteorologist Lyndsay Tapases is part of the ABC 13 team of WXperts. She currently works the weekend and 5:30pm newscasts of ABC 13 News, but also handles occasional weather duties on Good Morning Virginia, as well as ABC 13 News at 5, 6&7.
As of June 2012, Lyndsay has been awarded the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Seal. The CBM Seal is the highest professional designation awarded by the American Meteorological Society (AMS), as it involves continuing education, public outreach, and a comprehensive written exam.
Lyndsay came to the Hill City from State College, PA, where she was a weather broadcaster for AccuWeather, Inc. from December of 2008 through June 2010. While at AccuWeather, Lyndsay delivered television and radio forecasts to thousands of clients nationwide, including an appearance on ESPN GameDay during the "Blizzard Of 2009" in December. Lyndsay worked part-time for AccuWeather while at the same time completing her Meteorology degree at Penn State University. During her senior year, Lyndsay was inducted into the Meteorology Honors Society, Chi Epsilon Pi. She is also a member of the American Meteorological Society.
Having grown up in New England, Lyndsay enjoys being able to forecast for the four seasons and loves the diversity of the weather in the Mid-Atlantic. A lifelong Boston Celtics fan, she has attended close to 50 Celtics games. She enjoys returning home to visit her family, including two younger sisters. When she is not busy with work, Lyndsay enjoys cooking, baking, working out, reading, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.
