A sinkhole along Interstate 83 near Harrisburg has been filled and a closed lane has reopened but PennDOT is cautioning drivers that traffic is substanitally backed up in the area.
The sinkhole developed in the right shoulder of I-83 southbound between the Eisenhower Interchange and the overpass for Paxton Street. Workers closed the right lane at 1 p.m. and filled the hole with concrete.
PennDOT spokesman Greg Penny said the traffic backup will take awhile to clear especially at this time of day.
Workers are keeping a truck on the shoulder for the next hour to allow the concrete to set.
