Police: Fire reveals marijuana grow-house

Posted: Updated:

A marijuana-growing operation was discovered Wednesday night in Lancaster County after officials responded to reports of a building on fire, according to police.

As fire personnel were extinguishing the blaze on Locust Street in Columbia, police said they noticed multiple building code violations. Columbia police then arrived on-scene to investigate and found 60-70 mature marijuana plants being grown.

About 10-12 lbs. of loose, harvested marijuana were also found in bags, according to police. The building was condemned by the Columbia Borough Codes Office and its owner and occupants identified.

Police are continuing their investigation.
