Police make arrest in connection with paving scam

Posted: Updated:

Police have arrested a Harrisburg man in connection with running a paving business scam.

Perrin Cooper, 26, of Summerwood Drive, is accused of swindling a Susquehanna Township resident out of $1,000 by falsely offering to pave her driveway. Police said Cooper contacted the resident posing as "Frank Joles" from "Performance Paving" and asked for a down payment for his services.

The resident never heard from him after he received the payment, police said. The $1,000 check was found to be cashed the same day by Whitney Cooper, 26, of the same residence.

Perrin Cooper was charged with theft by deception and sent to Dauphin County Prison on $200,000 bail. Charges are pending against Whitney Cooper.

Investigation revealed that the false paving business is an ongoing scam by the Coopers, police said.
