Tioga County is conveniently located in North Central Pennsylvania. Just 4 to 5 hour drive from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York City and Baltimore/Washington DC area.

To get here, Route 15 (soon to be Interstate 99) and Route 6 will lead you right to Tioga County.

Just as varied as the fish you'll catch in our waters are the tupes of experiences available in the north central mountains of Pennsylvania. Whether you are a warm weather fisherperson or would rather experience the thrill of ice fishing, you will be reeled in by:

  • numerous lakes full of trout, large and smallmouth bass, yellow perch, blue gill and an occasional muskie or walleye.


Travel to the Marsh Creek wetland viewing blind at the Muck just outside of Wellsboro, and you can see a variety of bird species, waterfowl, and even some larger area mammals. Of course, Tioga County has many Important Birding Areas (IBAs) as designated by the Pennsylvania Audubon Society.

Parks and Forests

Tioga County is home to Pine Creek Gorge otherwise known as Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon. The Gorge is surrounded by 165,000 acres of the Tioga State Forest making it a truly pristine area to visit. The area abounds with outdoor activities including horseback riding, canoeing, rafting, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, fishing, hunting, and much more!

Tioga is also home to seven lakes scattered throughout the county. You can fish, swim, picnic, boat, hike, or just enjoy any of these special water retreats.
