Doylesburg General Store owner Georgia O'Donnell, gets paid $13 per day to run the community post office.
She said over the years, her costs have naturally gone up, but when she asked the U.S. Postal Service for a raise, she was refused.
"They deemed that $400 a month for doing the work here, including the use of the space and everything else, was plenty," she said. "If they think I'm getting plenty, then I'm through."
USPS regional spokesman Ray Daiutolo spoke with abc27over the phone Monday, saying, "Right now, we're losing a lot of money. Anywhere we can cut expenses without impacting customer satisfaction, we have to do it. We have no choice."
Starting July 1, all mail will go through the post office down the road in Dry Run. Daiutolo said eligible customers will be offered a post office box free of charge at that location. The only way they will lose their ZIP code is if they discontinue their current box.
