Attorney: Charges against mom who boarded school bus expected to be dropped

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Pa. (WHTM) -

It appears a Perry County mother, charged with boarding her child's school bus without permission from the driver, may not face criminal charges after all.

According to the mother's defense attorney, the Perry County district attorney is now asking that the charges against Tara Keener be dropped.

The New Bloomfield woman said she saw a commotion near her son's seat last December, so she ran onto the bus to help him. It turns out her son was asleep.

It is illegal in Pennsylvania to board a school bus without the driver's permission, but Keener said her actions were typical of any concerned parent.
