ENOLA, Pa. (WHTM) -
A special delivery arrived at Al's of Hampden on Friday, but the pizza shop wasn't getting new ovens. There is something else on tap.
The equipment will be being used to build a nanobrewery, much like a microbrewery, only much smaller.
"I've been studying for this my whole life," owner Albert Kominski said. "I love beer. It's one of those guilty pleasures that you can enjoy."
Customers will soon be able to enjoy it, too. After everything is set up, the Pizza Boy Brewing Company will have plenty to choose from.
"We'll have 14 fermenters, so we'll be able to have 14 beers going at one time," Kominski said. "Variety is what sells. People don't want the same beer on tap all the time, they want to try something new all the time. We'll have an edge that we'll have a bunch of different beers."
Kominski said he needed to do something to stand out, since so many retail stores are now selling beer.
"I'm a little scared it's going to bring a lot more people in and we're very limited in space," he said. "It should be interesting to see what happens."
He's even learning how to brew, and hopes to brew his first batch ready in September. He said once his nanobrewery is up and running, he'll be able to put his beer on draft anywhere in the state.
