Veteran's Day - The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month - marking the end of what was one of the most destructive wars of our time, WWI. In 4 years time, more than 20 million lives were lost. The year was 1918. A year later, it was made an official holiday. Today, we celebrate EVERY veteran, every military person past and present who has served in every war and we take a moment to give our thanks. Following are a few things going on November 11th to commemorate this day. ALL past and current military service people are welcome, and most of these events are also open to the public:

Restaurant in the Spotlight:
Home 231, North Street (between 2nd & 3rd Streets, Harrisburg). Formerly Zephyr's, among others, this is a great little neighborhood spot that focuses on a modern homestyle menu that is partially supported by our local area farmers! I highly recommend their Sunday Brunch that includes my personal favorite, Huevos Rancheros and my 2nd favorite, a fabulous Spicy Bloody Mary!! For lunch and dinner, you will find anything from Chicken Pie to Hanger Steak to Smoked Trout, to the classic Reuben and Burger. They have a very tasty Beet Salad with goat cheese and toasted hazelnuts. And I've never seen this on the menu anywhere....Deviled Eggs AND Homemade Donuts!!! The relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff reasonably priced, yummy food make this a must-hang!
