A York man has been sentenced for illegally purchasing body armor, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Authorities said Michael Cook, 44, bought body armor at a Harrisburg gun show despite being forbidden to do so under federal law. He was prohibited after being convicted of making terroristic threats and destroying property.
His sentencing judge became concerned after hearing tapes in which Cook made worrisome comments to investigators, authorities said. He reportedly told an FBI informant that he wanted people to know who he was by the "sting of his bullets."
Cook is ordered to report to the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the end of the month.
