GRANTVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

One person is dead after a crash in Lebanon County Saturday afternoon.

It happened just after 2 p.m. on Allentown Boulevard near Bull Frog Road in East Hanover Township.

Troopers identified the deceased as 75-year-old Ernest Firestone of Cornwall. His 73-year-old passenger, Shirley Firestone, was flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center with severe injuries. She is reported to be in critical condition.

According to investigators, Ernest Firestone was attempting to cross Allentown Boulevard when he entered the eastbound lane and was struck by a tractor-trailer in his driver's side door. The 79-year-old truck driver was not injured.

Cpl. Richard Nesbitt of State Police Jonestown offered some tips at the scene for driving safely during the holidays, and all year round.

"Always wear your seatbelt...please," he said. "Obey the posted speed limits, and then of course, be sure you scan and beware of other drivers."

Nesbitt said all people involved in this crash were belted in.

Allentown Boulevard was closed in both directions for about five hours. Troopers expected to re-open it around shortly after 7:00 p.m.
