Here we are, already into the first week of a brand new year!!! And the temperatures over the past few days have certainly been dead on for January, huh? Personally, I'm a snow person, as I've mentioned before, but the best I got so far was driving over Reeser's Summit the other morning in a total "white out"!! I felt like part of the Donner Party going over the Pass in the Sierra Nevadas, only in a Hummer instead of a covered wagon! This is the toughest time for many who suffer from seasonal depression....my advice? I know, who asked?? Join a gym and get that endorphin high 3-5 times a week. It really does help! AND, put things on your calendar, big or small, like dinner or a movie with a friend, a short daytrip to Philly or Baltimore, anything that takes you away from your routine, something you can look forward to!! Here are a few things going on this weekend to get the year started:
January 6th
-Come and see me sing with the world-renowned jazz pianist, Steve Rudolph at the Harrisburg Hilton in the main Lounge from 7:00-10:30pm. Enjoy a hot toddie and some great jazz!!
Now through January 11th
-Visit the PA National Fire Museum for its 10th Anniversary of 9/11 exhibit that includes photos, and a structural steel piece recovered from Ground Zero. Hours are 10-4 daily and admission is $6 adults/$4 children. On North 4th Street in Harrisburg.
January 7th through January 12th
-Annual Farm Show, at the Farm Show Complex, of course, on Cameron Street. This is the largest indoor agricultural event, great for the whole family. Hours are 9-9 daily, free admission and parking is only $10.
January 7th
-Hershey Bears at Giant Center at 7:00pm
January 8th
-New Year New You Health Fair - thought this might be worth attending for those of you in York County. It's being held at the Dover Area High School from 1-4pm. There will be health screenings, educational information, promoting self-care practices, careers in health care and motivational information on how to make healthy changes in the new year!!!
