QUESTION OF THE WEEK 1/12/12

Ok...you're standing in a line at the grocery store, retail store, ticket booth, or driving in bumper to bumper traffic, whatever, and the line next to you is moving faster or it's a shorter line.  So you make the switch and lose your place in the slow line only to suddenly be delayed in the line that WAS moving fast until you got into it!!  What is that all about??  If you've lived as long as I have, that's happened to you a bazillion times!  (Yes, bazillion is a word, MY word and since this is MY column, I'm using it!)  Nevertheless, after all this time, I STILL fall for thinking the lane switch is going to pay off.
