The suspect in a fatal Harrisburg hit-and-run is locked up. The victim, 41-year-old Anthony Neals, was killed riding his bike home from work early in the morning on South Cameron and Allison Streets.
Anthony Neals' younger brother Dominick says the news of the arrest helps take away some of the pain.
"It puts a little light to the situation, but I will never be fully comfortable with it. I appreciate that he turned himself in," he said.
Harrisburg police have charged 43-year-old Nathan Hayward with homicide by vehicle, hit-and-run and driving under suspension. Investigators say Hayward hit Neals and then drove off. Neals was found on the sidewalk where he died.
Dominick says Hayward should have stayed with his brother.
"I would have made it 100% better. You don't leave a man on the side of the road after you hit someone," he said.
Dauphin County Coroner Graham Hetrick has seen this happen before.
It's the shock of what has occurred," he said. "They are six or eight blocks down and their emotions are high and then they return."
Hetrick said Neals was hit from behind on a stretch of Cameron Street that had street lights. In the meantime, Dominick said his family is trying to stick together.
"We were a tight family and don't live far from each other, so we will do the best we can to make it through this," he said.
Hayward is being held in the Dauphin County Prison without bail.
