A Steelton man fled a drug sting and led police on a high-speed chase in Middletown before causing a crash that sent three people to a hospital, including a 14-month-old child and his pregnant passenger, according to a borough spokesman.
Trevar Decker, 22, was arrested following a foot chase after the crash late Monday, spokesman Chris Courogen said in a news release.
Decker was facing charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, 10 counts of reckless endangerment, fleeing and eluding, and attempting to deliver a controlled substance.
According to a borough news release, Middletown police and the Dauphin County Drug Task Force attempted an undercover drug buy from Decker in the parking lot of the Midtown Plaza, in the 400 block of E. Main Street, at around 9:45 p.m.
Decker drove off, nearly striking an undercover detective, and sped from police through side streets and yards before crashing into the other car at the intersection of E. Main and N. Pine streets, the release stated.
He fled but was arrested in the Middletown Cemetery after a five-block foot chase, according to the news release.
Courogen said a 14-month-old child who was a passenger in the other vehicle was taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center for treatment of a cut to the head, but was expected to be treated and released. The child's mother was also taken to the hospital.
A woman nine months pregnant who was in Decker's car was taken to the hospital for a precautionary examination and was being held for observation.
Two other passengers in Decker's car were not hurt.
