One killed, one injured in I-78 crash

LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) -

One person died and one person was injured in a serious accident in Lebanon County.

It happened just before 1 a.m. Saturday at the Interstate 81-split on Interstate 78 in Union Township.

State police said 80-year-old Margaret Rodgers of New Cumberland was killed when the car she was riding in attempted to make a U-turn while merging onto I-78 from I-81, and was hit by a tractor-trailer. The driver, 48-year-old John Rodgers, was flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center with major injuries, authorities said.

The highway was shut down for hours while crews investigated.
