Police: Safety a concern following burglaries

Posted: Updated:
LEMOYNE, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police on the West Shore are very concerned about a rash of brazen break-ins.

A thief or thieves has been targeting homes in one Lemoyne neighborhood. About five thefts have occurred in the past couple of weeks on Bridgeview Drive, Indiana Avenue and Glen Ridge Drive.

West Shore Regional Police SAID some of the burglaries happened while residents were home.

"We don't like to see it. We're sort of amazed at the number," neighbor Richard Horn said.

Police believe the suspects have been entering the homes through unlocked garages and doors. Officials are calling the thefts bold. Neighbors are on edge.

"We are on alert," neighbor Donna Savage said. "We're hesitant to answer the door. We are locking our garages in particular, keeping those doors shut."

One man who said he was a victim said the thief took a small amount of cash from his house, as well as golf shoes, food and wine.
