Brett Feese
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
A former high-ranking Pennsylvania state House member has been sentenced to 4-12 years in prison for his role in a public corruption scheme.
Former state Rep. Brett Feese, of Lycoming County, was also ordered Friday to pay a $25,000 fine, $1 million in restitution, and spend two years on probation after his release.
Feese, a former House Republican Campaign Committee chairman, was convicted in November of 40 counts of theft, conflict of interest, hindering prosecution, and criminal conspiracy.
State prosecutors said he and nine others in the House Republican Caucus engaged in a scheme to spend millions in taxpayer money for computer software to give Republicans an edge in elections.
His onetime aide, Jill Seaman, was convicted during the same trial and sentenced last month to 9-23 months in jail.
Seven others connected to the caucus, including former Speaker John Perzel, pleaded guilty to reduced charges in exchange for cooperating with prosecutors.
Perzel is scheduled for sentencing March 21.
