A NASCAR racer is hoping to drive awareness for arthritis and help fulfill a local woman's wish at the same time.
Driver Todd Peck was at the Whitaker Center for an arthritis awareness event Saturday afternoon.
When 24-year-old Sarah Sheaffer was hospitalized Friday for a serious arthritis condition, Peck teamed up with the East Pennsboro ambulance company to help grant Sarah's wish to meet him.
"It's gonna be a really good thing," said Peck. "It's awesome from my perspective to be able to meet some of the people we're out trying to raise awareness for, so it's great."
"For him to have reached out to us this morning, as not only Arthritis Foundation volunteers, but as parents who have an arthritis illness, it's just amazing," said Sarah's mom Suzanne. "There are no words big enough to what he's going to do for our daughter today."
Peck also raffled off tickets to the Daytona 500 to benefit the Arthritis Foundation.
