The Mike Ross WHTM-TV Broadcasting Scholarship will benefit one intern during the summer of 2012. The scholarship is offered in memory of Mike Ross, a longtime WHTM-TV Reporter/Anchor and former News Director who passed away in 2006 from ALS.
Eligibility:
- Currently enrolled in a four-year Pennsylvania college or university
- Pursuing a degree in either Broadcast News or Production
- Entering Junior or Senior year in college
Requirements:
- Intern at WHTM-TV / abc27 in Harrisburg, PA during the Summer, 2012
- Available to work 40 hours per week for 10 weeks
Benefits:
- Practical, hands-on experience in News and Production or related major
- Exposure to all aspects of a broadcast television station
- Mentoring by seasoned staff member(s)
- Participation in a student led broadcast
- $4000 Scholarship payable to your University (based on 40 hours per week for 10 weeks)
- (Note: interns are not eligible for any other company-provided benefits)
Application and Selection:
- Submit a resume and written essay introducing yourself, outlining your plans or ambitions and describing how the internship and scholarship will benefit you
- Submit a letter of recommendation from your school
- Candidates will be evaluated on their academic record, need and overall presentation
- Selection of the final candidate will be based on an interview with the WHTM selection committee
