Stronger-than-ordinary is a great way to describe 88-year-old Richard Henry. He has always been into fitness, and thanks to Second Wind Dreams, a nonprofit that grants wishes for seniors, Richard got a personal training session at Gold's Gym.
Don't let his cane fool you -- his former Marine and World War II veteran can still pump some iron. Richard lives at Elmcroft, a senior living facility in Dillsburg. They say he starts every morning in his room by lifting weights and doing push-ups and sit-ups.
"He used to lift buckets with concrete rocks, in his words, anything heavy," said Linda Knecht of Elmcroft.
The 88-year-old left an impression on his 23-year-old trainer, Lewis Reese.
"I admire that he is able to do it. I wish a lot more people would take better care of their body like he has, because I think it something everyone can do," Reese said. "It was impressive. Every time I'd pick a weight he'd exceed it. I almost had to add weight a few times."
Richard follows his own advice.
"You're only fit when you're in favor of your body," he said. "And you can do anything you want when you feel right."
