David Travis
CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -
A Carlisle man has been charged with inappropriately touching a woman he was supposed to be helping through his job as a part-time caretaker.
David Travis, 62, is accused of grabbing the woman's bare breasts several times during the last few months of 2011, and on one occasion exposing himself to her while he was inside her apartment, according to court documents.
He was charged Tuesday with indecent assault and open lewdness.
Travis was a part-time employee of United Cerebral Palsy and had access to the woman's apartment because he was assigned to assist her with her daily activities, court documents state.
He has since been fired from the agency.
UCP officials said they notified police immediately when they were told of the allegations. They pointed out that they perform background checks on all employees, but said nothing came up on Travis.
"We take all possible steps to prevent abuse or neglect of any consumer," the organization said in a written statement. "We strive to keep up with best practices and apply them in hiring, training, background checks, policy development, compliance and monitoring."
Police said they are also looking into Travis's recent history to determine whether there are other possible victims.
