LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police said they arrested the mother and father of a seven-week-old infant after the baby boy was found to have numerous injuries that included several broken ribs.

Maurice Barr, 24, of no permanent address, and Anneliese Colleen Bachman, 22, of Conestoga, each face charges of aggravated assault, child endangerment, and reckless endangerment, according to Lancaster City police.

The baby was found to have four one-week-old rib fractures and nine additional healing fractures during an examination Monday evening at Lancaster Regional Medical Center, police said.

It was later determined that between May 24 and May 30, the child was subjected to a variety of violent acts committed by the parents, police said.

The infant was thrown a distance of about five feet during an argument, and during another incident forcefully removed from a baby swing when one parent grabbed him around the body, squeezed him, and caused the child to strike his head, according to police.

Investigators said the injuries were sustained in at least two different homes in the city.

The infant was transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He was released from the hospital on Thursday and placed in the custody of the Children and Youth Agency, police said.
