BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WHTM) -
After more than seven hours of deliberations Thursday, the jury in the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse trial has asked to review transcripts of the testimony of two witnesses.
The jurors want to review the testimony of Mike McQueary, a former graduate assistant of the Penn State football staff who reported he witnessed Sandusky with a young boy in a locker room shower, and that of Dr. Jonathan Dranov, a friend of the McQueary family who listened to McQueary's account that night.
Judge John Cleland told jurors that McQueary's testimony is two hours long and Dranov's is about 20 minutes. He said due to the length of the transcript, their request could not be granted Thursday night. He said the court will address the issue at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
McQueary testified for the prosecution during the trial and told jurors that he saw Sandusky standing against the back of a young
boy, who had his hands against the shower wall. He said Sandusky's arms
were wrapped around the boy's midsection and he saw slow movement from Sandusky's midsection.
McQueary said when he shut his locker door as hard as he could, Sandusky and the boy separated and were looking right at him.
Dranov, who testified for the defense, said McQueary told him he saw a boy in the locker room shower, made eye contact with him, and said the
boy didn't seem scared. He said an arm reached out and pulled the boy back, and Jerry Sandusky then emerged from the showers, Dranov said.
Dranov said McQueary told him he heard sexual sounds but didn't
describe specifics. He said McQueary's "voice was trembling,
his hands were shaking, he was visibly shaken."
"I kept saying ‘What did you see?' and each time he
would come back to the sounds and I would say ‘What did you see?' but it
just seemed to make him more upset," he said in court.
