Woman's home burglarized while she attended son's funeral

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Joanne Fry says her home in Hampden Township was burglarized Tuesday while she and her family were attending her son's funeral.

Her son Shaun passed away after a long battle with an illness. He was just 30 years old.

Fry says she came home and noticed her front door had been knocked open. She says someone stole money and jewelry.

She believes the burglar assumed the home would be empty because her son's obituary listed the date and time of the funeral. She can't believe someone would take advantage of her situation.

"It angers me that someone would have enough nerve to feed on someone's grief," she said.

Fry says most of her neighbors didn't see anything suspicious because they were also attending the service.
