HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

State prosecutors have announced the arrest of a York County woman accused of stealing more than $300,000 from an elderly relative.

Rita Wynegar, 52, of Dallastown, took the money for her own use beginning in September 2006 when she allegedly took over full control of her great aunt's finances, according to Attorney General Linda Kelly.

Kelly said the investigation began in April 2010 when the York County Area Agency on Aging received a complaint that the elderly woman, a resident of the Brunswick of Longstown personal care home, was being financially exploited.

Wynegar was charged with two counts of forgery, one count of theft by unlawful taking, and one count of theft by deception. She was released after posting $25,000 straight bond.
