Illegal meth lab found in Glen Rock

GLEN ROCK, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police in southern York County have confirmed the discovery of an illegal methamphetamine manufacturing operation inside a Glen Rock building.

Southern Regional police said the meth lab was discovered in an apartment above a laundromat at 30 Water Street.

The discovery was made during an investigation into a domestic dispute Thursday night, when officers developed probable cause to obtain a search warrant for the vacant apartment, according to police.

The building was evacuated in the morning and a search of the apartment turned up chemicals and equipment consistent with a meth production site, police said.

A state police clandestine lab team called in to process the scene later concluded that the site was indeed a meth production site and all chemicals and equipment were safely removed, police said.

Southern Regional Police Chief James Boddington said the lab was not part of a big operation, but did pose a threat to those who lived in the building and the surrounding area.

"We had 20-pound tanks of ammonia which if let loose can become very dangerous with other chemicals in the meth making process," Boddington said.

One man was arrested, but police did not release his name pending his arraignment. He faces charges of drug manufacturing and possession with intent to deliver.
