HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

The new Bishop McDevitt High School in Dauphin County is nearing completion.

Students and staff joined Bishop Joseph McFadden in song and prayer Wednesday as the diocese dedicated and blessed the cornerstone for the new building in Lower Paxton Township.

A 35-foot memorial cross was blessed first. The cross now sits between two towers about 100 feet above the ground.

For senior Kaitlin Pagliaro, it was an inspiring sight.

"I love the old building and the architecture, but it's exciting moving into a new school," she said.

Students will start the new school year in the old building in Harrisburg and will move into the new school after the new year.

The new high school campus is off of Spring Creek Road.
