Woman reports sexual assault in Harrisburg's Midtown

A 24-year-old Mechanicsburg woman told police she was sexually assaulted as she walked to her car in Harrisburg's Midtown area.

Harrisburg police said the woman reported that her attacker was sitting on the steps of a building in the 900 block of N. 3rd Street early Thursday.

He spoke with her and walked with her to her car, but when she refused his attempt to kiss her, police said she was pulled to the corner of a parking lot and forced to perform a sex act.

She said she was able to get free and run when a car pulled into the parking lot and startled her attacker, police said.  A resident walking by saw the victim and went to her aid and called for police.

The woman described her attacker as a black male in his 30's, about 5'11" tall, with a medium to husky build, police said. He was said to be wearing a gray shirt, gray shorts, and flip flops.
