HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
Harrisburg police said they have identified the gunman involved in the armed robberies of two city bars last month.
Police said Friday that 33-year-old Oneil Thompson remains at large, but he will be charged with robbery, conspiracy, and a firearms violation for a June 11 incident at Club 1400, at 1400 N. 3rd Street, and a second holdup two days later at S&D's Lounge, at 621 Wiconisco Street.
During the first incident, two masked gunmen robbed Club 1400 customers after one of them walked in the front
door and fired a gunshot into the ceiling, according to city police.
Officers were told about 25 people were forced to get on the
floor and hand over their valuables, and a barmaid said she saw a tall masked man
carry a gun through the front door before he fired the shot and yelled
for everyone to get on the floor, police said.
A second masked gunman
came in the bar through a side door.
The barmaid told authorities that she ran past the second robber and went out the door to call police.
The patrons were robbed of money and jewelry, but no one was harmed.
In the robbery of S&D's Lounge, victims reported that a tall, masked man
carried a gun through the front door, fired two shots
into the ceiling, and yelled for everyone to get on the floor, police said.
A security guard said he tried to run out the front door, but was attacked by a second masked and armed robber, police said. He said he got past the robber and went to
the other side of the street to call 911 when he noticed a
third armed man standing near the curb outside the bar and a fourth
armed man standing near the rear of the bar, police said.
Police said there were about six people in
the bar who were forced to the floor and
ordered to hand over their money and jewelry. No one was harmed.
The robber also went behind the bar and took
money from the register, police said. The robber then ran out the back
of the bar, and all four robbers ran off in different directions.
Police said Thompson has been known to live in Harrisburg and Philadelphia. Anyone with information on his whereabouts may call 255-3118.
