LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -
Update: After a foot chase, police apprehended the second suspect in this case, Kendell Charles Foster, 20, of Lancaster. He is being held at Lancaster County Prison.
Police say three shots were fired at a man after he was robbed and punched him in the face in Lancaster City last night.
The victim, a 25-year-old man, was not hit by any of the shots. Police have one suspect in custody and are still looking for another. They describe him as a black male in his mid-twenties about 5'8"-5'10" and 160-200 pounds. Police say he has a goatee and sideburns.
The suspect in custody, Paul Pilgrim Jr., 21, is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery and for the possession of firearms that are not to be carried without a license. Pilgrim was arraigned and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $250,000.00 bail
Police say that just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday night the victim was walking on the 400 block of N. Cherry Street when he was grabbed by one of the suspects, who proceeded to steal a small amount of cash from him. After that, the other suspect punched the victim. The suspect with the gun then hit the victim several times on the head with his handgun before firing several shots.
Police later apprehended Pilgrim shortly after the initial 911 call. Security at Lancaster General Hospital had observed him on their surveillance cameras. Police officers had to chase down Pilgrim on foot after he attempted to flee arrest.
Police said additional officers were dispatched after Pilgrim removed a handgun from his waistband while jumping over a fence. He was eventually detained at the 400 block of New Holland Avenue.
