Police: York County woman stole from several neighbors

Posted: Updated:

A West Manheim Township woman has been charged with stealing from several of her neighbors.

Police say 52-year-old Tammy Myers took $42 in cash and a bottle of wine from two separate neighbors on Wednesday. They also say she trespassed on at least one additional occasion and is a suspect in at least one other neighborhood burglary.

One neighbor, Tracey Weih, said she came home several weeks ago to find Myers hiding in a bedroom in her home. She didn't call police then but she did yesterday after she heard a suspicious noise in her house. Shortly after she heard the noise, Myers knocked on the door and said she had seen a black male running from Meih's garage.

Officers arrested Myers for the earlier burglary and found $42 in her shirt from Wednesday's burglary. She told police she also took a bottle of wine from Meih's house and the $42 from another home on the street. She said she had taken bottles of wine from Weih's home on several other occasions.

Police were able to recover the stolen bottles of wine.

Myers is in York County Prison after being arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James Miner Thursday. Bail was set at $10,000.

Residents of the Heritage Drive area who have not already reported a burglary or theft are asked to call the investigating officer, Craig Snyder at 717-632-7059 ext. 105.
