According to Gettysburg Borough Police, 19-year-old Shiphod Brown was shot and killed early Friday morning.
Police say a shooting occurred around 3 am in the area of Breckenridge and South Washington Streets. Brown was transported to Gettysburg Hospital, where she later died.
Maudi Mitchell, a close family friend said the sound still rings in his ears.
"We heard 'pop pop pop' -- it sounded like M-80's going off. We didnt know they were shots," he said.
Another close friend told abc27 that Brown was a kind girl, on the track to success.
"She was a good person -- always had a smile on her face," said Adrianna Townsend, "Everybody likes her, everybody knew her. Swas just a good genuine person. She had stuff going for her."
Police say the investigation is ongoing, and there is no reason for the public to be concerned.
