Prince James Brantley
Shiphod Brown
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
Authorities have announced the arrest of a suspect in the shooting death of a 19-year-old Gettysburg woman.
Prince James Brantley, 27, of Gettysburg, was charged with criminal homicide and firearms offenses after he turned himself into police Monday morning, according to Adams County District Attorney Shawn Wagner.
He was being held in the Adams County Prison without bail.
Brantley told police he was in the first block of Breckenridge Street early Friday when he grabbed a gun from a woman and fired five shots at a passing vehicle driven by Shiphod Brown.
Brown was struck in the shoulder and died at a hospital. Authorities said her boyfriend was in the car with her, but he was not injured.
"This appeared to be a dispute between two different factions of individuals," Wagner told reporters. "There was some early rumors that this was somehow gang-related activity, and I can assure you this was not gang-related activity."
Authorities said they do not believe Brown was the intended target. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
