CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -
The former Masland plant in Carlisle has been considered an eyesore by many who live in the neighborhood since a fire destroyed it back in May.
Carlisle Borough Council has now rezoned the location, which will allow the owner, Carlisle Events, to move forward with redevelopment plans. The location will be the home of a new hotel and restaurants.
Mark Vaughn sees the change as a step forward for the area, but he has some concerns.
"It might create more jobs, but I am worried about traffic coming through here," he said.
Dustin Hockenberry hopes the owners will develop a plan that will ease traffic concerns.
"If they put it where Masland was located, you will not have a traffic problem," he said.
The fire in May destroyed two buildings and damaged several others on the property.
