CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -
Carlisle's tax collector won't be able to do his job while drug charges are pending against him, but he will keep his elected position and continue to collect his pay.
Under a ruling in Cumberland County court Monday, George Hicks Jr. will remain on paid leave and borough officials will take over tax collections.
The district attorney's office had asked a judge to remove Hicks from office after he was charged last week with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance for allegedly selling marijuana to an undercover police officer.
According to prosecutors, Hicks on two occasions sold marijuana to the
undercover officer at a building on S. Hanover Street near his tax
collection office.
