NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. (WHTM) -

One person was killed in an early morning fire in New Cumberland.

The fire broke out shortly before 4 a.m. in an apartment above a detached garage in the 500 block of 4th Street.

Police said they are classifying the fire as suspicious because it's still unknown how it started.

Officials said the victim was found in the apartment. Fire crews said at first the flames were too intense to enter the apartment.

Two firefighters were injured fighting the blaze.  One was taken to a local hospital for treatment while another received care at the scene.

Officials at the coroner's office said it was unlikely they would release the name of the victim Tuesday.
