NEWVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A home was destroyed by a fire early Tuesday morning in Penn Township, Cumberland County.

The fire broke out just before 4 a.m. on the 200 block of Southside Drive.  When firefighters arrived on the scene the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Three adults were able to make it out of the home safely. Officials said one of them woke up to cracking and popping noises and found flames near the refrigerator in the kitchen.

The home did have smoke detectors but they were not working, according to fire officials.

A state police fire marshal was called in to help investigate the cause of the blaze.
