HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A lightning strike started a fire that caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to a suburban Harrisburg home.

Susquehanna Township Fire Marshal George Drees said the lightning caused material in the roof to smolder. About five hours later, the home in Brookfield Road was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire took about 40 minutes to get under control.

"The lightning hits and it dehydrates all the wood and takes the moisture out of the wood and starts a small fire," Drees said. "It grows and grows into a full fire, and that is what happened here."

Two firefighters suffered burns and were treated at the scene.
