LEMOYNE, Pa. (WHTM) -

West Shore Regional police have charged a former Lemoyne Borough employee with stealing money from the pool and sewer fund.

According to court paperwork, 41-year-old Sandra Hesson admitted to officers that she took money from the funds instead of depositing it.  The former accounts receivable clerk is accused of stealing more than $1,900 between July and August.

Police were contacted after the borough manager noticed the money was missing. He declined to comment to abc27 News about the investigation.

This is the third instance of a government worker breaking the public's trust in Cumberland County this summer.

Earlier this month, former County Coroner Todd Eckenrode pleaded guilty to stealing prescription drugs from death investigations.

Last week, Carlisle tax collector George Hicks Jr. was arrested for selling marijuana.

District Attorney Dave Freed said both Carlisle and Lemoyne officials have handled the cases well by getting police involved and making the public aware.

"Once something happens the government must put that information out there, explain what happened and what steps are going to be taken to make sure it won't happen again," Freed said.

Hesson will have a preliminary hearing on August 29.  Freed said it is unlikely she will face jail time, but she will have to pay back the money.
