62-year-old man murdered during home invasion

PEACH BOTTOM, Pa. (WHTM) -

A 62-year-old Lancaster County man was found shot to death in his home Saturday morning in Drumore Township.

Police are following up on leads, but the killer is still at large and there are no suspects.

District Attorney Craig Stedman said there was forced entry into the house, and it looked like theft was the original motive.

The victim was Douglas Herr of 1297 Furniss Road. Stedman said Herr had been shot but it was not clear how many times he was shot.

Stedman said the person or persons responsible are about as dangerous a person as one could encounter.

"This is someone who is willing to kill for potential values, property or cash," he said. "That person can be classified as nothing but extremely dangerous and obviously depraved."

Stedman said the break-in and the shooting occurred some time between 9:00 Friday night and 1:20 Saturday morning.

Police are hoping that someone may have seen something in the area at that time that may help their investigation.

Troopers spent all day Saturday working the scene and were expected to work through Sunday morning.
