GRANTVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Carlisle woman died after a crash on Interstate 81 in West Hanover Township, Dauphin County early Tuesday.

State police in Harrisburg said 23-year-old Jasmine L. Richardson was driving southbound when her 1998 Chrysler Sebring went from the right lane into the grass median about two miles from the Manada Hill Exit, causing damage to her left front tire.

Richardson then west back across both lanes of travel, hit the right guardrail head-on and spun around, and as the Chrysler traveled in the right berm it struck the side of a passing tractor-trailer, police said.

The Chrysler crossed both lanes a third time and came to rest in the grass median. Richardson died at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 1:40 a.m.

The driver of the truck, Richard Sattazahn Jr., of Annville, was not injured.

The crash investigation closed a southbound lane for several hours. The lane reopened around 5:20 a.m.
