MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -
Police have arrested a Harrisburg man for a shooting death at a Lower Swatara Township campsite and for the attempted killings of the victim's brother and a third man in Middletown.
Adam Homer, 31, was taken into custody Thursday and sent to Dauphin County Prison without bail.
Homer was charged with first-degree murder for the killing of 48-year-old Michael Snyder, who died almost immediately after he was shot once in the chest at 1439 Swatara Park Road in the early hours of May 31, Lower Swatara police said.
He also faces counts including attempted homicide and aggravated assault for wounding Snyder's brother with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, police said.
Authorities did not disclose a motive for the shootings.
Homer also faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault for a shooting incident in Middletown the night before the incident at the campsite, police said.
Police have said the victim in that case, David Schweitzer, told investigators he was staying at his sister's residence in Caravan Court and was going in and out of the home when he noticed the dome light was on in his GMC Yukon.
Schweitzer said he approached his GMC and saw someone standing in the shadows on Hoffer Street near Frey Avenue. He then looked in his vehicle and found his .357 magnum pistol was missing from the center console, police said.
Schweitzer told authorities he approached the person in the shadows to confront him. The man came at him and as Schweitzer moved to take cover, the man pointed a pistol at him and fired a single shot, police said. Schweitzer was not struck.
Homer was also charged with reckless endangerment, theft of a firearm, persons not to possess or use a firearms, and loitering and prowling.
According to online court records, he has previous convictions for burglary, theft and receiving stolen property in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties.
A preliminary hearing was not immediately scheduled.
