Police: Robbers threatened to kill over cell phone

Posted: Updated:
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Four young men threatened to kill a couple during an armed robbery in a Harrisburg area apartment complex, police said.

The couple reported that they were walking in the Lakewood Hills apartment complex around 9 p.m. Thursday when the young men surrounded them, according to Lower Paxton Township police.

One of the robbers grabbed the female victim around the neck from behind and another put a gun against the head of the male victim, police said.

The robbers stole only a cell phone before they fled north away from the apartment complex. Witnesses saw a group that matched the description of the robbers headed toward the Colonial Park Care Center and later through the Paxton Park Apartment complex off Megoulis Boulevard, police said.

One of the robbers was described as being about 6'1" tall with a thin build, and the shortest was said to be about 5'7" tall with an average build. The victims estimated the ages as being between 15 and 18, according to police.

Police said all were in dark clothing including black hoodies, one of which had a paw print logo on the back such as a Central Dauphin East Panther or Clemson University logo. One was in shorts and the others in long pants.

Anyone with information may call police at 657-5656, leave an anonymous tip at 724-8317, or call Crime Stoppers at (800) 262-3080.
