CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Philadelphia man accused of stealing more than $14,000 from a retail chain was arrested in Carlisle when he tried to pass a fraudulent check for another $600, according to borough police.

Robert Maurice Walker, 40, tried to pass the check last week at the Tractor Supply store at 10 Noble Boulevard after making a similar attempt at the Harrisburg store, but employees were alerted that he was in the area and were waiting for him to arrive, police said in a news release Wednesday.

Walker was already suspected of committing similar crimes at other Tractor Supply stores in Pennsylvania, as well as Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia over the last ten months, police said.

The employees called police when Walker entered the store and officers stopped him at the register with a cart full of merchandise, according to the news release.

Officers later searched his vehicle and recovered more than $600 in merchandise purchased with a fraudulent check at a Pep Boys store near Harrisburg, police said.
