George Hicks Jr.
CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -
Carlisle's tax collector is headed to trial on charges he sold marijuana to an undercover police officer.
George Hicks Jr. waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday, allowing the case against him to proceed to Cumberland County court.
According to prosecutors, Hicks twice sold marijuana to the
officer at a building on S. Hanover Street near his tax
collection office.
Hicks told reporters that he uses marijuana for a medical disorder and to relieve stress. He said he was selling the pot for a friend and called the arrest a set-up.
He is on paid leave while borough officials
perform his tax collection duties.
