PALMYRA, Pa. (WHTM) -
Palmyra police now say they visited the apartment of Kortne Stouffer three times in the hours before the 21-year-old went missing a month ago, not twice as previously reported.
According to a news release issued Wednesday, police have filed citations against two men for underage drinking following an incident at 810 W. Main Street.
The news release identifies the men as 19-year-old Michael Burdge and 18-year-old Corey Bowman, both of Palmyra, and indicates that police were at Stouffer's apartment at 9:30 p.m. the night of July 28.
Police returned to the apartment twice to investigate complaints from neighbors after Stouffer came home from a night of dancing in Harrisburg with friends shortly after 3 a.m., according to her parents.
Police spoke with Stouffer and left, but returned later for a complaint of "banging and stomping." During the second visit, Stouffer's parents said the officers left after no one answered the door.
A reward for information in the case is now up to $35,000. Family and friends continue to hold benefits to raise even more money, hoping to entice someone to come forward. "Kortne Come Home" T-shirts were for sale at a Grantville business Wednesday night.
"There is absolutely somebody out there who knows exactly what happened to my daughter and they need to come forward," mother Wendy Stouffer said. "They need to tell us what they know, what they've done. Shame on them."
"I really pray there is something that breaks them down," father Scott Stouffer said.
Stouffer's parents said they had a scare Wednesday when a woman's body was found in a Montgomery County cornfield, but they said authorities have told them the body is not that of their daughter.
